House of Hope orphanages, Kenya

Could you sponsor a child?

We are currently seeking sponsors for some of the children in Saidia Children's home, and to put orphans who have been brought up by grandparents in the community through vocational training college, so that they will be equipped to support themselves in adulthood. might you be prepared to spare a few pounds each month to bring hope to a young life?

The children in Saidia are aged between three and fourteen, and what we are asking for is £20 per month. Most of this will be spent on their immediate needs while they are at school, but a small portion will be held back to offset the additional costs of college or training when they leave school.

The children we try to help through the Outreach Scheme are generally AIDS orphans who have been brought up by grandparents or other elderly relatives. But whilst they may have been able to feed and clothe the children, the grandparents generally don't have any spare cash to pay for education, so these children have spent very little time at school. There is a vocational training college which will teach them basic trade skills, so that hopefully they will be able to earn a living. But we need sponsors to cover their college costs - about £35 per month for two years. Could you help?

What we can offer you...

The opportunity to sponsor a child for as little as £20.00 per month. You are put in direct contact with your child, with no large administrative organisation in between. You write to your child, and he/she replies in English, DIRECT TO YOU. For the price of a bottle of wine or a glossy magazine per week you will enable a child to attend school, making a real difference to a young life.

The wonderful satisfaction of receiving letters from the 'real people' of Kenya, hearing first hand about their problems, their achievements, their hopes, and unfortunately, sometimes their tragedies.

The chance to make a real difference. Without your help the prospects for these children are grim. A small contribution from you will make a huge difference to them, giving them the education they need to stand a chance in later life.

The holiday of a lifetime. A trip to Kenya is always unforgettable, but get off the tour bus to meet the people and it can become a life changing experience. Why not visit your sponsored child? Our Kenya team will be happy to show you round the project, help you get to know your child, and can arrange tours and safaris with a local operator who will show you Kenya in a way that no package deal can.

To find out more take a look at the Sponsorship FAQs then fill in the Information request form and we will send you an information pack by post.
